What to Expect
Travel reference:

Enjoy the ultimate nature and wildlife experience on these excellent-value Milford Sound cruises!

Choose from either the Nature Cruise or the Discover More Cruise. The Nature Cruise is a great way to check out Milford's awe-inspiring scenery and travels the length of the fiord out to the Tasman Sea. The cruise stops at waterfalls and points of interest along the way, and lively expert commentary is provided throughout the tour from the skipper. You'll be able to reach out and touch sheer rock cliffs, drink pure glacial water straight from the waterfalls, see seals sunning themselves on the rocks and watch dolphins riding the bow wave of the boat.

With the Discover More Cruise you can really explore the beauty of the fiord. You'll have access to the Milford Sound Underwater Observatory, the only floating underwater observatory in New Zealand. This is the absolute best way to experience the magic of the Piopiotahi Marine Reserve, previously the exclusive realm of divers. Descend 10 metres underwater into a large, fully air-conditioned viewing area where large windows with excellent optical clarity open your eyes to this deep underwater haven. You can also upgrade to include a one hour kayak around sheltered Harrison Cove. Kayak through crystal clear waters in one of the most majestic places in the world.

  • Q:What should I wear during my kayaking?
A:Hi there, thanks for your question. We recommend you dress appropriately for the weather in Milford Sound. On sunny, warm days we suggest a hat, sunglasses, and clothing that you'll feel comfortable while kayaking. On cooler, rainy days we recommend a rain jacket and hat, quick-dry clothing and an insulating layer to help you stay warm. As Milford is a rainforest, there's a good chance that you'll get wet while kayaking. The supplier will provide wet weather gear. If you have any other questions, please send us an email at service@kootrip.com. Kind regards, Cynthia
  • Q:Hi, can you tell me where the Milford Sound Underwater Observatory is?

But it's closed for maintenance during this time to 9 August 2019. If you have any other questions, please send us an email at service@kootrip.com. Kind regards, Cynthia
