Discover the beauty of Mount Cook's Hooker Valley with a half or full day guided walk!
Join a guided nature walk of the Hooker Valley, providing breathtaking view of New Zealand's highest and most enthralling peak, Mount Cook. Your knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide will tell you all about the unique flora and fauna of the region and the local history as you trek through this amazing landscape.
If you choose the half day walk, you'll enjoy a stunning 7km return trek along a well-maintained track. Your journey takes in the poignant Alpine Memorial and passes over the turbulent Hooker River twice by swing bridge to give you unsurpassed vistas of Aoraki Mount Cook's south face and the surrounding glaciers and mountains. The landscape changes so much on this walk, as you pass over rapid rivers on foot bridges, then walk through open grass fields covered in native flora, with glaciers and snow-capped peaks looming all around you. As you hike, your expert guide will happily answer any questions you might have about the surrounding geography, so don't be afraid to ask!
For a full day of walking, upgrade to the 14km route, which takes the same route as the half day option but continues to the terminal lake of the Hooker Glacier. The full day walk also includes a packed lunch.
