Enjoy an amazing encounter with New Zealand's longest Glacier, the Tasman Glacier!
Departing from The Hermitage Hotel, you'll be transported to the Tasman Valley where you can take part in a 25-minute alpine walk with an experienced guide. Then it is time to board your custom-built MAC boat and enjoy the ever-changing scenery of the Tasman Glacier. See beautiful icebergs of all shapes and sizes up close. You can even touch and taste the ice crystals which are between 300 and 500 years old.
As you cruise around the lake, your knowledgeable guides will tell you about the glacier's constantly changing landscape, which makes every expedition unique. At the end of your 1 hour lake cruise, you'll be returned to the start location.

Please check in 30 minutes prior to your departure at the activities desk located inside The Hermitage Hotel.
Car: Parking is available on the roadside outside of The Hermitage Hotel. If you're coming from Christchurch, it is a 5-hour drive to Aoraki Mount Cook Village. If you're coming from Queenstown, it is a 4-hour drive.
Child tickets: Ages 4-14 years
For safety reasons, children aged 0-3 and people with physical limitations are unable to participate in this activity.
Tour duration: Approximately 2.5 hours, including 1 hour on the lake.
Tour departure times: 8:00 am (September-April), 9:30 am (September-May), 11:00 am (September-April), 12:30 pm (September-April), 2:00 pm (September-May), 3:30 pm (September-April) and 5:00 pm (September-April)
All individuals taking part in this activity must be able to walk 1.5km in 20 minutes.

This activity operates from September to late May - the glacier lake freezes over winter so the start of the season is subject to the lake thawing.
Please note that the icebergs in the Tasman Glacier Lake are a result of glacial calving. As this is a natural occurrence, there may be times when the glacier isn't active, meaning the quantity and size of icebergs may vary. Unfortunately, seeing icebergs, glacial calvings, and rollovers cannot be guaranteed.
