See the magical Waitomo Caves and enjoy the Polynesian Spa on this action-packed full-day tour.
Setting out early from Auckland, you'll travel down the main southern highway through small rural townships steeped in early pioneer history. First up, you will explore the world famous Waitomo Glow Worm Caves on a guided tour. Take in the beauty of impressive limestone rock formations and twinkling glowworms. Your tour ends with a short boat ride along an underground river into a cavern lit up with thousands of tiny glow worm lights. Departing Waitomo, you will enjoy a delicious lunch as you travel through Cambridge to Rotorua.
You'll then stop at the Agrodome for an introduction to New Zealand farming. You will join a tour of an authentic working farm in all-weather, all-terrain vehicles. You'll see a sheep being shorn, be able to hand-feed the animals, watch a sheep dog demonstration and a visit to a 100-year-old working woolen mill.
Next up, you will relax in the shallow alkaline rock pools at Polynesian Spa, surrounded by revitalizing native New Zealand flora, natural rocks and the sound of waterfalls, with views over Lake Rotorua. Following your spa experience, you will arrive at Te Puia where you will be introduced to Māori culture and traditions at a Māori performance. Inside the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, you will be guided to meet master weavers and carvers who are passing on their skills.
From here you'll head towards the Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley and explore its extraordinary landscape of boiling mud and steam. An impressive one is the famous Pohutu Geyser which shoots jets of vapour up to 30 metres into the air! After an action packed day of adventure, it's time to get back on the bus for the return trip to Auckland.
