Explore the essence of Waiheke and discover for yourself why Waiheke is world-renowned for its wines.
After enjoying your relaxing ferry ride from Auckland to Waiheke, or if you are staying on the Island, you will be greeted by your friendly guide for the day. While you take in the stunning scenery of Waiheke, with views of Hauraki Gulf and beyond to the Coromandel Peninsula, you will be entertained by your guide's commentary on the history, geography, culture, people and produce of Waiheke. Your guide, who holds a Bob Campbell Diploma and is a keen wine enthusiast will introduce you to the first of the three vineyards you will visit on the Island.
At each stop you'll learn about the wine-making process, how it is harvested in the region and taste several fine wines. At stop two and three you'll continue to take in the beautiful landscape and develop your palate tasting Roses, Pinot Gris, Syrah and sparkling wines, among others. After your winery visits, you can choose to enjoy a two-hour lunch stop at a local village, beachside café; or for a memorable gourmet experience, at one of the top vineyard restaurants (at own expense). After lunch, you will be returned to your accommodation or to the ferry back to Auckland.
